Separate SMTP settings per user/tenant reposted

HI all,

I repost this, to update the benefits of this feature to new&old users on this forum:

BENEFITS:
Your apps will have a good score in SPAM, you will be able to send messages with real email address in multi-tenants apps (without any workaround).
Your customers will be able to use their own SMTP server (where-ever they have a valid email account: ex. gmail). In fact unlimited possibilities in using SMTP settings for each user.
Your customers will never call you for that your server is blacklisted (because they'll use their own 🙂 ). Who manage a email server knows that SPAM is a big problem in our days and soon or later if outgoing messages are sent with today workarounds your SMPT server used in "System Settings" will be blacklisted.

HOW it will work:

This is not a plugin, it will be a feature included inside BO's.
When a BO is selected as Intelligent it will be populated with these fields:

'From' E-mail address
Password
Server Address/IP
Port
TLS
SSL

The cost of this feature is 700USD...

There are 2 scenarios:
Users are not using enough the sending emails from their app (multi-tenant apps).
OR
they are not concern about SPAM. A mail server administrator which is using security policies will rank their emails as spam, because in sender email address they are using a different email than the sending system does (AwareIM SystemSettings) - this is a huge problem in sending emails.

I really hope that we will have this feature soon. 🙂

I run a multi-tenant app. Within the last week or so, the major email services - Yahoo, Hotmail, and even Gmail, have not been delivering a lot of the system mail. It seems they all got together and decided to set the same filters. So I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I'm in for this improvement - there's really no other way to guarantee email delivery. Can anyone confirm that this will work for multi-tenant apps? That's probably the whole idea, but just asking.

I am by no means an email expert, but I have learned that SPF and DKIM are very important to having email not considered as spam, both by the ISPs and by end users. Multi-tenant email processing added another layer of complexity, but I want to make sure folks understand that adding multi-tenant processing functionality to AwareIM won't 100% solve the issue of being an email being seen as spam. You will also need to address having SPF and DKIM updates (for each tenant) to be seen as a legitimate email source.

I'm no expert either, but I would think that when the client sends a message and his from address is LoggedInRegularUser.EmailAddress ( joe@mydomain.com), and the mail is transported to the mydomain.com smtp server, that's about as good as it gets. Just don't mention Viagra and you should be alright.

I'm agree with you Tom.

From my little experience when built email server like marketing mail and support DKIM, SPF (I suggest you should have your own DNS Server), IP Rotation, clamav, SSL, etc.
There are many thing can mark your mail as spam. The first thing make sure your IP is NOT in blacklist, I usually check from http://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx. Use IP rotation to prevent your IP marked as blacklist if your mail server must sent many emails in one day. Like gmail, it will delay your email first within 15-30 minutes if there are many emails from your IP address to gmail account and after that it will blacklist your IP in dnsbl site if your IP address still sent many emails again to gmail account. The third is make sure your mail header not has any suspicious that can mark your mail as spam.

I have a quite a lot experience with email servers (linux especially), sending emails trough your real SMTP is the best approach. Of course you have to be certain that this SMTP is also clean and not blacklisted, if your PTR records are ok, MX records, DNS, etc.
Like Suwandy says there are tools to checks this, also using mxtoolbox, blacklistalert.org, intodns.com.
Like we are using now in AwareIM is not good for multi-tenant apps.

Hope more will realize that we need such a feature in AwareIM.

Although I don't have or envisage having multi-tenant applications where each tenant would send emails, I would be prepared to chip in US$35 as I can see this would be a useful functionality for many B2B applications and internal business applications to have.
Now only US$165 to go.

Email safe delivery is based on too many random factors ( server settings, SPF, DKIM , useless anti-virus/firewalls etc etc ). Here is my 100% working set-up which guarantees me 98% inbox success on my delivery ( there are still 2% Redneck users among my data....) :

any SMTP
"Sender From", always use : <<LoggedInSystemUser.EmailAddress>>
open an account with ReadNotify.com
in AwareIM create an Attribute like " Customer.SendRegisteredEmail" and a Rule " If SendRegisteredEmail='Yes' Then Customer.EmailAddress= '<<Customer.EmailAddress>>.readnotify.com'

With this system your normal Customer email will change from "test@test.com" to "test@test.com.readnotify.com" and the email will be sent using their SMTP. I am recommending as I use them since 10 years now. Extra features : the email uses a tracking system and you will notified at email opening, delete, forwarding etc etc.

We usually send 200 or 300 emails per day.

If you have a "legit" list with regular customers you can choose Mandrill, their inbox is very high but you must have a clean list.

Any SMTP will not work when sending to most serious email providers but the new solution will 🙂.

yes, this is a workaround which works for some, but I know my customers, they would not like to transform their email address in something customer@domain.somesmtpserver.com.

Why rely on some third party smtp (which could change the rules of the game any time), when we could offer to our customers a real sending option (no spam, no tricks).
