Offline capabilities are key to enterprise mobile applications. Most enterprise mobile applications fail because of this.I would like to have certain objects in the mobile app available offline.
If there is no network connection then I at least want some functionality that lets me create an Object or List Objects . Then have an action processed when the network comes back up, either from the mobile phone or when I log into the system again on my desktop. e.g. list of offline transactions awaiting to be submitted by user
This may sound complicated, but I believe Kendo supports the HTML 5 offline capability, hopefully some of this will be integrated. (Vlad did indicate some kind of offline functionality was going to feature, but to what degree of functionality is the key)
I have had some thoughts about how this would be implemented on the server side and I am sure that Vlad would have a solution, but here is my 2 cents worth:
In an offline mode I don't see the option of the rules engine, so the transactions would have to be stored as static data on the device.
When the network comes back up the static data is submitted in background to the Applications "Mirrored database on the server"
When the user accesses the application again, there is a prompt to process the offline transactions. The process then fetches the transactions from the Mirrored DB and submits the transactions to the main app.
