Custom button generating a pop-up

I have registration page where client will enter name,address,city,...that is build using a form and is access using Guestlogon. At the bottom of the form I have a "confirm" button that calls a process(DisplayConfirm) for a HTML document with the details of the entry the client made on the registration form. The confirm button call is

My problem is that it generates the confirmation page in a pop up and I would need to have it just replace the form in the current browser session.

I am not sure of all of the parameter options in the startprocess call, so maybe i am missing something there - I have tried to use a presentation report rather than a html document, but I could figure out or find the appropriate syntax to get that to work.

I am open to any ideas or approaches that will allow the client to enter registration and view their confirmation on the same page

Hi Thom,

Try this:

1) Create an NUMBER type attribute in RegularUser BO: IDtoConfirm

2) Assuming your BO you are trying to register & confirm is called Registration, create a rule in Registration:

If RegisterMe IS NEW Then
LoggedInRegularUser.IDtoConfirm=RegisterMe.ID

3) Create a Custom Presentation for Registration that displays the registration confirmation info.

4) Create a Query called ConfirmRegistration to display Presentation from #3 above.... where statement will be:

FIND RegisterMe WHERE RegisterMe.ID=LoggedInRegularUser.IDtoConfirm

5) In your process called "DisplayConfirm" you will now have only 1 line:

DISPLAY ConfirmRegistration

Hi Tom,

The sequence of steps you provide worked in theory. The confirm process takes me to the confirmation page within the same browser session, but I do not get any results - just the page header from presentation.

I was wondering how the RegularUser BO handles a automatic login from the Guest account? I currently have two entries in the RegularUser - neither is the Guest and both have a NULL IdtoConfirm. I am guessing that I do not get any results because the FIND statement is not getting a return

Oops. I didnn't think about the guest access issue.

I wonder if you could use a SystemSettings attribute instead of a RegularUser attribute to store the ID for a split second.

Have you been able to create any instances of a BO using Guest access. doing some tests, I don't seem to be able to set Access Levels to allow the Guest level to create any.

Yes I have , but just to make sure we are on the same page what I have done is

Used the default Guess Access level that appears when you create a new business space
I then created a Form for my Registration BO, and gave it Full Access to the Guest level (I also made sure that the new query, and process was accessible via the guess
Created a perspective for the Guest, in which I basically inactivated all frames accept the main and then set the Command Setting to Create Object for Registration
I access the registration page via a link http://.../AwareIM/logonGuest.aw?domain=VRIt

Like I mentioned before, I get the registration page, just not the details when I run the confirm process for the presentation. Thanks

I was finally able to get Guest access to work using SystemSettings. Did you try that?

Hi Tom,

I get what is going on with the IDtoConfirm and the RegistrationId - kind of fooling the system to get it to display the current record. This works. I see in the database that the systemsettings is getting updated with the correct value (i don't know what happens when you have 2 or 3 people completing a registration form around the same time...?), but I think my real problem is the presentation. The query is right, but I am not getting any data to appear on the presentation. I get the header and the labels. When the confirmation was appearing in the html popup, I got everything.

Any ideas

re: presentation -- do you have the attributes you want to show in the presentation in the Details band?

On the query that drives the Custom Presentation, what happens if you click "Standard Presentation" instead of "Custom Presentation"?

re: timing -- theoretically, there could be an issue with conflicts between users, but it's hard to imagine it actually happening in the time it takes the server to run the process.

Even i tried d same way you suggested. Getting just the report headers but no data.

When i click standard presentation, i am shown the 'Results for query ConfirmRegisteration' page but with no data

It sounds like you are saying the query produces no data even "Standard Presentation".

I tried reproducing thom's issue and tried the sequence of steps you suggested him.. But I did not get any results either with custom or standard presentation . just the page header is displayed from presentation. The data is not shown.

Hi Tom,

Like Craig, if I change to a standard presentation, I get query grid without any data - like the custom presentation.

My first thought was that that it has to be an access level thing, but I basically added registration forms and processes to an admin perspective and got the same thing.

My original method for trying to generate a confirmation page was to merge with an HTML document (which got me the pop-up that started this thread). While that "mostly" worked, I did notice that it was not displaying any of the calculated fields - almost as if, it went from the registration page to the html confirmation page and then performed the rules for the calculated attributes. Which is oddly like the behavior I am having with the registration to custom presentation confirmation.

I am also not running the same build you are, so I will do the upgrade to eliminate that as a possible difference between our efforts. I drop a quick note to let you know where I stand after that.
