Filter Selection in a drop-down field

I have an application where I require to select a client name in a drop down field.

I have a BO which has the drop down field and the filter on the selectable content comes from another BO. The other BO has a reference attribute which is used to determine if the value should be shown.

I use the rule (This Works):

FIND Client WHERE Client.SupportContracts.ID IS DEFINED

This rule displays all Clients with a support contract defined in the reference attribute "SupportContracts"

I also require to display all clients who do not have support contracts and have used this rule (THIS DOES NOT WORK):

FIND Client WHERE Client.SupportContracts.ID IS UNDEFINED

When I use this rule, the drop down selection is empty.

Can anyone help.
