Interesting discovery.
Unrelated to Aware, storing BLOB (document, image or any binary) in DB is recipe for disaster to happen. I've been down that road with another platform that took down the whole system, where the original developers were storing PDFs in database.
This direction is only viable for small image size and small numbers, that's it.
Hopefully, for 8.1 we will get FILE SYSTEM for images as well, so we can avoid DB storage all together.
Start re-designing your system to store documents as files. It's a lot of work to maintain this system accurately. At first it may seem easy, but you need to have well designed and implemented system to move files around, delete them, rename them and etc., and still know exactly where each file is.
