Execute Process After Save - Need to define output

I have a form that is embedded into the VP rather than being a modal window.

I have to use two forms in this setup. View and Edit.

After saving the form, I need to show the form in View mode.

Challenge:
There is not a mechanism to define the output location for the process after execute. So running a series of steps after the Save and then viewing the form makes the form output to the whole screen (overwriting the selector list beside it).

Is there a way to get this to not happen? If there was a Save function that I could call then it wouldn't be a problem as I could Start a Process, execute a Save then carry out my other steps and end with a View BO using Form into the specified output of Same Panel.

I have worked round this by redisplaying the Visual Perspective.

It is REALLY clunky and unpleasant so if there are better solutions (like SAVE or a specified output for process after save in v8.1) I'd be interested.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by embedded, so this may not be useful.

I assume that you're talking about a AND VIEW IN TAB situation for your ENTER NEW [form], which I use all the time to output my add-form to the main content panel. When the user clicks the save button, I use the "Execute process after save" setting (along with having the "Close form after save" option checked) to run a View [edit-form], which outputs to the same panel. Works great.

If you're talking about somewhere other than the main content panel, that may be trickier.

BTW, make sure that your View [edit-form] rule is the last rule in your process or the form will display as a pop-up...and that includes rules that have been disabled as I reported here:

I remembered that the Execute after Save is not the best route to go down if I’m starting the create process - will look at putting it in the operation that starts the whole process off.
