►Q◄ Is there a way to write an entry AIM's TOMCAT Output Win

Similar to the REPORT ERROR action, is there a way to write some kind of entry into the Tomcat Output window?

I find myself, during development, keeping this window open on my 2nd monitor.
It has ONE main purpose - I can see when users log in and are using the system, and I can kinda tell where they are because I can see Rules & Conditions being executed.

During testing of a process with 4 steps that imports a lot of data, I thought it would be nice to monitor progress if some casual message could display on my already open window.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi there

If you have a look at my logger.props post in tips and tricks I have updated the logger to do exactly what you are looking for but to a database table (and a file).

There is a small update that I need to make to it (change all the single quotes to double quotes)

You need to set up 3 tables to contain the output. I setup an external database to AIm to contain these logs

PM me if you have any other questions.

You can also select the ${console} parameter to output to the console screen - though for monitoring processes this is less optimal due to screen scrolling speed and the mixing of other console activity.

OK, so I see how that works now, but my Q is:

Is there a way to specifically WRITE AN ENTRY into the log file, i.e..

1/1/17  5:00pm    Started posting 2395 recs
1/1/17  5:02pm    2395 recs successful

etc

No, you cannot write an entry into Tomcat log...

This may be more trouble than it is worth, but a java plug-in can write to the AwareIM Server log.

like i [might have] said, this is really for me to use during development.
since you can't have multiple display messages popping up during processes, i'm just looking for a way to signal to the open window on my desktop that something is happening.
I could call a process to add a log entry into my own 'tracking' file, but that won't come up on the screen/log - I'd have to check it later to see info.
