Can you reference elements on a VP from other elements?

Supposing that I had a VP with a grid on it, is there a way to reference that grid (specifically the currently selected item in that grid) from other elements on the same VP?

For example a VP with three grids on it:
Grid 1
Gird 2
Grid 3

Is it possible for Grid 2 and 3 to be able to use Grid 1 as a means of filtering the content on Grid 2 & 3 (without writing out variables to the LIRO)

I know I can use the LIRO as a holder for global variable type behaviours such as holding referenced objects, but I have found that it has created a problem with refreshes as I set the LIRO object and then load grids etc. (which if I switch off then stops the grid refreshing at all)

No, LIRU would be the only way to accomplish this.

Perhaps you have Autorefresh settings that need tweaked??

Yes with client-side JavaScript.

Which begs the question why you are turning off the auto refresh

With auto refresh on For my process setting the LIRU I am getting numerous refreshes on the grid when I select an item as it writes to the LIRU and then generates the form output It is taking just under a second and looks fugly and because it is refreshing the grid the selected item on the grid is being lost. I therefore tried switching off auto refresh for that process.

The unintended consequence was that ALL automatic refreshes were lost not just the auto refresh for that process. So the update grid on setting (i.e. Create new BO) is being overridden by the no autorefresh flag on an entirely different process.
