Can Aware run in "Container" like Docker?

I would think it's possible. Tomcat and Java applications can run in Docker.

I think it can run on docker although I never test it before but... I have run it on VM and without got any issues.

Container isn't quite like a VM, even though some aspects of it may be similar to VM. I'll do some testing later and see how it works.

I investigated this and an issue I came across was MAC addresses changing after restart of a container which breaks the AwareIM licence (which I believe requires a stable MAC address).

This may have been a problem specific to the AWS Docker Container environment, but it was enough to stop me pursuing a container deployment.

That's exactly what I was worried about, the MAC address. Since you can have multiple dockers on the same server.

I too wondered about the MAC address / licensing being an issue. It's not a real high priority for me at the moment, but with container usage exploding, this would be a good item for the AIM road map.

I have never been a fan of VM's, bare metal machines are always more efficient

BUT looking deeper into Docker and how containers work versus Vm's there seems to be a compelling reason to use them. Could also be the answer for publishing runtimes

As far as AwareIM licensing goes, if each container needs a license that's fine, when using a VM the same applies

Tony, Containers are the future VMs. Microsoft is pushing containers and sort of moving in that direction.
However, if you use Docker in AWS, you're still using VM which what AWS is all about. Containers really shine on real servers. A friend who used to get a beefed up server and split it into multiple VMs for his clients, now has switched to Docker and and he said he gets much better performance per client and he gets more clients per machine.

If you offer a solution to a clients that each has it's own DB and own BSV, and you offer a full hardware/software turnkey solution, container is your ticket.
