Help with password criteria validation functions

Can anyone suggest functions or rules to enforce and validate new passwords.

E.g. read the string and check if it contains

No. of characters (LENGTH function)
No. of upper case letters
No. of numerals
No. of special characters

I used this and got it working successfully:

If you use Regex in the password setup - insert the code in the "Validate As" section of the attribute (this is a copy and paste from somewhere on this forum which I cannot find the link for )

Also if you google regex you will find some other configurations,

Login Name : /^[A-Za-z0-9_@.]{8,80}$/
THIS SPECIFIES 8 - 80 Characters (Alpha Numeric and Special Characters _ . @) - To allow email addresses as login names as well.

Password : /^?=.*[a-z](?=.[A-Z])(?=.\d)[A-Za-z\d!@#$%^&()-]{8,}/
THIS SPECIFIES: 1 Upper 1 Lower 1 Number (Longer than 8-), Special Charachters !@#$%^&()- are also allowed
