Can somebody please direct me to information/training explaining in detail how to connect a WordPress front end to an AwareIM back end?

I envision the WP UI having a menu selection on the left, with the remaining window having two panes (iFrames?): the upper one having general information, and the lower having details.

Both panes will be tabbed.

I think you're overcomplicating it. WordPress and AIM use completely different technologies, so there's no straightforward approach to integrate them. Given enough time and money, anything is possible, but if you're looking for a simple, step-by-step solution, you can use an iFrame to create the appearance of an integration without getting involved in a ton of custom development work:

Step 1: Create a new WordPress page.

Step 2: Insert an iFrame on the page, using your AIM URL as the iFrame source

Step 3: There is no step 3, you're done. Anyone who visits this page will be able to view your entire AIM application. Any navigation within AIM will take place within the iFrame, so you don't have to concern yourself with WordPress menus or anything.

That's what I needed. I think.

I want the WP "look and feel", with (modifiable) menu lists on the left, and resulting tabbed Aware IM panels (2- above & below, sizeable) on the right.

It was the simple iframe "hook up" I couldn't figure out. When I bought AIM over a hear ago, the sales person told me that's what the company actually does on the AIM site, but never told me how to do it and I couldn't find any explanation that didn't seem complicated, as you observed.
