Developing Awareim Application with existing SQL Srver table

Hi Group,
I am a new awareim developer working on v7.1 right now, Just wondering if we can develop awareim application with existing sql server tables created for another programming application?

Yes with limitations;

as far as i know,
a: cannot use Business Object Groups
b. cannot do reference attributes
c. cannot add new attributes (unless you add it first on the external sql table, and then 'refresh' your business objects.

Yes, Cris are right but do you have any good suggestion?

In my mind, I think this can be solve with data integration but still not try it.

Hi Sabbi,

It will be easier to answer if you can provide a little context as to what you actually want to do.

You can definitely access your external DB tables and you can Query them and edit them.

The only thing you cannot do is use them as an Aware IM Reference BO. Reason being is that Aware needs to manage it's own columns and this will clash most likely with you external app.

Reference attributes should be supported (but not many-to-many)

Because I have Aware tables that other applications are using (writing to), and since Aware has 3 columns for each foreign key with 2 of them being constants. I have created defaults for those other 2 fields, so if an external app adds records to the table, all they have to do is populate the foreign key field (has name ending in RID) and the other 2 (REN, _RMA) will get populated so Aware will be happy.
