So what would the HTML be if I want to display Client.Note, a plain text attribute with 500 characters in a column that is 120 pixels wide but wraps so that it always shows the entire Note attribute contents?

suggest change splitting of panels on page to vertically (default = horizontal) via button in top bar at left to view more cleanly.

umm, the layout you gave me Purest, with the display FLEX does do what TFord wants. each column will wrap. Screen shot attached.

yes, but he only has one attribute, thus no need to use flex. and it sounds like maybe just one instance also.
note in the example via the link in my last post, the inclusion of:
overflow: auto; ...which will make scrolll bars appear automatically (but not constanly shown, even as inactive)
..and mention of:
word-wrap: break-word; ...which should be used if you want long words whose width exceeds the width of the div to be broken onto multiple lines
you might want to add the word-wrap property to yours because without it any such long words will extend beyond the div boundary.

I'm using external tables, so I can't put the HTML into another field. However, I would really love to have just one column wrap. I got it working with custom queries, but I miss all of the other functionality of the table (sorting, in-line editing, etc). Is there another way to get this done without a custom query?

Not sure if it would help you in this scenario, but in one BSV where I have external tables, I maintain an AwareIM table that has an instance for each instance of the external table. The AwareIM table has some additional attributes that the external table does not have. In this case, I have no control over the format of the external table. I shortcut certain attributes from the external table to the AwareIM table.
