i don't think that should be a problem.
when i started doing my MSSQL implementation, I wasn't letting Aware know about the relationships.
If I was on a header record, to show lines it was just a query with OrdLine.OrderNum = OrdHdr.OrderNum
and it worked fine.
Note: I later used fields in the legacy Btrieve system to calculate/generate RIDs (unique row ids) and then, having made the relationship in Aware, I populated the necc. fields so Aware would "know" about the relationship. I had to do this BEFORE importing data into Aware because I wanted to use native SQL import tools - if Aware was importing the data (much slower), then I wouldn't have needed to do any of this... just wait longer. This has nothing to do with your original Q though, suffice to say I used to have all my tables related to each other just fine "outside" of Aware's knowledge.
