Retrieve a number from an email subject

I am developing an app that receives an email and within the subject line of the received email, is a number. I need to identify the number and store it somewhere else. Anyone go any idea how I can do this?

Is it possible the number can be placed between hashtags or some other indicator that would allow it to be more easily identified?

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately not, the number can be varying length but always has a ':' immediately before and a space immediately after if that helps.

1) Is it always a fixed number of digits?
2) Will there be any other : in the subject line?

1) No it starts with 4 digits and can increase over time.
2) No there will only be one :

The digits will always be followed by a blank space if thats any help.

Why cant you just read the Subject line into a temp attribute and then cut it up using the TEXT functions?
