Totally Agree Purist.
Right now, Aware is a closed eco-system. Yes, you can call stored procedures, but besides that, not much.
Where as, the rest of the world knows that there are many web services where you can send them data (pretty much always in XML or JSON), let them churn away and they will return a result set (again, XML or JSON).
If / When Aware makes it EASY to do this, then this product can be targeted to the "big guys!"
Specifically, have to be able to:
Encode / Decode attributes into XML / JSON
Call a Web Service and pass these parameters
(this part seems pretty easy... )
The "interesting" part will be decoding the response into some sort of nested arrays that can be processed by Aware. Perhaps along the lines of how we loop through a SQL result set. so, instead of:
FIND BO WHERE ....
ProcessName (which passes each record)
Would be something like:
CALL Webservice WITH Input = '....' RETURNS JsonToAware(result)
ProcessName (which takes each row returned, knowing that some rows have arrays (JSON objects) as an attribute).
DAMN! I would even cough up $10 bucks to get this working!
OK, $20!
