System hangs for 1 minute+ after Pick From

I'm working on a process to PICK FROM and then do some stuff.
It wasn't working, so I decided to try a smaller chunk.

I have a Process with 1 rule: PICK FROM ShowMySections
It used to be PICK FROM table where a=1 and b=2,
but that threw a weird query at me with a selection box - like it randomly picked fields.
I knew there had to be a way to select which fields were presented to the user.
I cannot find in the USER GUIDE (I did a search and looked at every PICK FROM) how to do it where you specify a query - luckily found it in the forum.

onto step 2...

My Process has an input BO - lets say Orders.
And since I'm not calling it "inside" a form I have no Order context to send it.
Thankfully, AIM asks me to select an Order for input.
So I see a bunch of Orders and I click one to proceed.

Then the PICK FROM uses that query and I see just the Sections for that Order.
All is good.
I select one, click SAVE and I get a blue sideways BarberPole for at least a minute.
There' isn't another step in my process... its done. Finished.
Whats going on?
I'm worried the database is getting hammered.

The log has 3 relevant entries:
Executing "pick from showmysections"
Suspending process 22
Resuming process 22 (about a minute later, or more)

any ideas?

How many records are in the 'ShowMySections' query?

If you can restrict your query to 20 records and then select one how long does it take to process?

If I was a wiz I could even suspect shortcuts in the BO and the 'eager loading' it does (as I understand it). Normally if you have a list of records where some may have been check it still loops through the set to see if its been selected and then process' it and moved onto the next on the list. If aware keeps track of the ID's of the selected items and only processes them and discards the others then this may have no bearing on the lag you have.
