Tutorial TAB features?

Hi,

Last implemented features were about TABS in most of the case. There is a tutorial about how to use these new features? Cannot find any.

I don't know is related to these features but I'm interested that if it's possible to this:

I have a form with these tabs: TAB1, TAB2, TAB3 (in this specific order).
When I use a process like: VIEW MyForm WITH 'TAB3' FOCUSED

Is this possible?

I am confused, let me ask some questions:

1) When you start, are the 3 tabs (1,2 and 3) already displayed?
2) Do you want to replace tab 3 with the data from the View?

If so, then you want to have your process close tab 3 then open a new tab.

However, you have limited choices in a proces re: the output options.(see my post re: why buttons can do more than a process).

The improvements with tabs has to do with tabs on your visual perspective that are opened by either a process or a menu click. Nothing with tabs on a form.

However, (even though it might seem kludgy), why not copy the form 3 times, and on each one, arrange the tabs in diff. orders. (you do know that its easy to copy and paste forms to make duplicates in about 3 seconds?). Then your process will have a "USING FormX" in the text.

You could set an attribute value somewhere (like RegularUser) and have the other tabs hidden based on the value.

Maybe I'm like a stubborn child.
I don't want to hide tabs, don't want to have 3-4-5 forms each with other order of the tabs (users get confused)..

Just want a simple thing: focus a TAB on opening (just that)...

I hope this feature can be added in next releases.

Try the below ...

Put code below into the Form Render Script
Set firstTabToOpenIndex to the index of the tab you want to open

	let firstTabToOpenIndex = 1;
	let tabStripId = parser.getTabstripId();
	let tabStrip = $("#"+ tabStripId).data("kendoTabStrip");	
	
tabStrip.one("activate", function() {
	tabStrip.select(firstTabToOpenIndex);					
});

Note: The first tab will still open, before switching to the tab you really want, but it's close ...

Ah thanks John, not quite workable with our use case...

We don't want to always focus on this tab, only when we open the form using a process, so now I think it through a render script isn't going to be suitable here. Nice code tho, tks.

It should still work with a process if you use EXEC_SCRIPT at the end of the process

Add this function to a js file in awareim\custom\js\mycustom.js

function focusTab (tabIndex) {

   let firstTabToOpenIndex = tabIndex;
   let tabStripId = parser.getTabstripId();
   let tabStrip = $("#"+ tabStripId).data("kendoTabStrip");   
   

   tabStrip.one("activate", function() {
      tabStrip.select(firstTabToOpenIndex);               

   });
}

Call the function and pass in the tabIndex as the last step in the process
EXEC_SCRIPT 'focusTab (1)'

I take that back ... the reference to "parser" is not going to work.

If this is something that is a priority, get in touch with me. I can make it work one way or another.

Thanks John... I managed to convince client to live without it, but I think FOCUS would be a great addition to Aware rules.
