New "Reply-To" not performing as expected

I tested this feature under the 7.1 beta release and it seemed to work just fine. Having implemented it, it does not seem to work at all. In my case, I have entered a tag expression in the notification form <<LoggedINInvestigator.EmailAddress>> but the reply is going to the value set in system settings. Is anyone employing this feature and do you have a tip for me? I don't get it - this is a super easy concept and I'm sure I saw a different result in the beta test.

You are right, just tested in my app and it's not working anymore.
Even after beta was functioning, but in 2235 is not anymore. What build do you use?

I know it was functioning because I've requested this feature and I've changed all my apps with it and it worked after beta.

Thank you for posting this (I was relaxed that my apps are sending emails ok).

I am running build 2227 and it works for me. Something must have happened after this build.

I have made more tests and it works...Sorry for previous post (I haven't drink coffee yet).

When I run in test mode, the reply-to address is kingsley@kingsley-hp, which is my name and kingsley-hp is my computer name.

Attached is a sample BSV with this feature:

Login as admin
Setup SystemSettings
Create a customer
Send email to that customer->In top Bar-> click on "Send Email with ReplyTO"

Also the sample bsv contains the feature that permits to send emails with "USING" (each user can have their smtp settings).

A notification will use the From address associated with the defined SMTP server (either in the system settings or in a user-defined SMTP server) unless the From address is defined in the notification. That's what I think I know. Others may know more better.

OK, so can you send an email from AwareIM using the email address for the user who is sending it or does it only get set from a default email address either defined in system settings or defined under Out-going email settings on the RegularUser BO?

Generally, in the From attribute of the notification object, you can use something like <<LoggedInRegularUser.EmailAddress>>. This obviously uses the email address of the loggedin user. The From address in the system settings (or SMTP object) is more suitable for a system message. You might use something like No-Reply@mydomain.com. If you have nothing in the notification object's From attribute, it would use that. Or you can put that value in the notification object when you know the message is being sent be the system. Also, I "think" that if you use a tag like <<LoggedInRegularUser.EmailAddress>> and it returns empty, I suppose the system setting value would be applied, but I'm not sure of that.

OK, thanks. still getting to learn how AwareIM manages outgoing and incoming emails. Been looking at the CRM example but there are a lot of pieces to it!

Hi there,

I have requested the Reply-To field to respect the RFC standards in sending emails corectlly.

Above is a sample BSV which uses the Reply-to and the "USING" statment in processes.

The idea is:

If you have non-techincal users your app can be defined as sending emails with

<From>:<<SystemSettings.OutgoingEmailAddress>>
Reply-to:><<LoggedInUser.EmailAddress>>

If your users wants to use their SMTP server you can use:
<From:><<LoggedInUser.EmailAddress>>
In BSV -> right click on "Business Objects" tree menu-> "Add Outgoing Email Account Object" (see my sample above)
In process you will have to use : "SEND My_Notification TO UsersBO USING UsersBO.EmailAccount

The client is wanting to be able to send and receive emails within the AwareIM application but wants to be able to use their current email address. This way they can either reply from within the AwareIM app or reply from their own mail client, i.e. Outlook, Yahoo. etc...
