In most development environments you can do acceptance , unit testing etc. Other than doing a manual check is there anyway to test an update against your app without risking an issue with a production environment.

What do you mean by "test an update"? Do you mean testing your app against an AwareIM update?

This is what "testing mode" is for. It uses a completely separate database, so your production environment is not affected. Please watch video tutorials for more details.

Yes. I have noticed a few posts in the forum regarding devs that have put an update into a production evnironment and had a few things break. I am not sure on the severity of the break and how much they tested there app with an AIM update.

My impression is that using the "Test" environment AIM provides and going through the app form by form is the only way of testing.

Aware IM behaves EXACTLY the same way in both modes. The only issues that people have sometimes when moving between modes are data-related. They may have different data in both modes, which sometimes cause issues/questions.

I'm aware of Selenium. Is there any other low cost tool for doing automated testing of Aware apps?
