Hi,

We have an HTML Document Template

which has a attribute of type Image

sales.signature

It is intended to show the signature image on file for the sales person.

The image does not show up if we VIEW Document but everything else works great.

Any idea how to allow an Image attribute to be used in an HTML Document Template ?

Here is what AwareIM does when you have images in a query and export to HTML:

And in my case, the document was created here:

So it's a matter of creating folders and files as needed to park an image for referencing. Now, if you want to transport that document off of the server, the "img src" would have to be public server space somewhere. You could create such a space on your app server if you wanted. If the documents are to have a long lifespan, I'd consider another approach.

Referring to the image like this <<Object.PictureAttribute>> should be enough.

Is your image marked as "display as signature" in the presentation options? If so, try to untick it - maybe there is a bug and Aware IM doesn't show images marked as signatures.

I've run into similar issue (but not signature) and I needed to specify "Width" size, i.e. 64pix

To clarify :

The attribute is only of type "picture" and not signature

The picture is an image of the sales persos signature

The HTML Document template has just the <<objectt.attribute>>

<h2><<form.sig_image1>></h2>

I am getting the feeling I must have a URL of the image and not the actual "picture"

Correct on the last sentence. HTML cannot internally house an image, it can only refer to an image source and display it.

I don't quite understand how to display an image which is from the Object in an HTML Document (aka Report)

If i have a TEXT attribute, and pass the "url" of the Image that just shows the URL 🙂

If i use a PICTURE attribute does the same

If i use a PICTURE (and toggle used for Signature) still doesn't work.

Am i thick ?

You can always use <<tags>> to fetch attribute data and place it in your file. The basic process for an image is that you will have to export the image from the picture attribute to the file system in a predictable location, then point your img src= to that location.

You can use a workaround as kklosson suggests, but once again, referring to an image attribute in a tag expression should be enough. Maybe you made some spelling mistake there, hard to tell without seeing your BSV

On a form yeah you can just use a tag, but not when he's generating a HTML document surely?

I always thought you'd have to do what kklosson said, export the image to a folder, then use <img src> tags to reference it.

Something along the lines of:
Create a folder under AwareIM called SigFolder
Create a plain text attribute called SigName
Rule 1 = SigName=FILE_NAME(BO.SigAttribute)+FILE_EXTENSION(BO.SigAttribute)
Rule 2 = EXPORT DOCUMENT BO.SigAttribute TO FOLDER '/SigFolder'

in your HTML doc <img src=/SigFolder/<<Bo.SigName>> width="bout this" height="this much">

No, you can just refer to the image using tags. Aware IM should automatically replace the tag with the proper HTML code. The object should be in the context of the document, obviously.

Sure,

Only you have to do is to refference in HTML the tag of the attribute:

here is a html code from a table cell :

<td width="230" valign="top"><<BO_Company.Logo_Picture>></td>

You don't have to <img src="bla bla bla..........

Could you also;

Tell us the attribute type of "BO_Company.Logo_Picture"

If it is of type Picture, where are you storing the images?

Also to clarify;

We are talking about a Document (aka Report) or Output not a Visual Perspective with an HTML cell

We just tried all mentioned options and still no image showing on VIEW Document

What if you launch it from the top of the form of the BO, so everything's definitely in context.

We will now test in the "Visual Perspective" itself

But we know its in context because all fields work Except an Image or Picture field

Will post a TEST BSV and everyone can see more easily.

Results of Tests:

Test 1: Does the Image show up inside an HTML cell in a Visual Perspective on EDIT (proof of context) = YES

Test 2: Does the image show up inside VIEW Document (HTML Report with SAME html in it) = NO

Test 3: Does it PRINT to a Printer with the signature - Testing now
