CRM Demo, Visual Perspective question

Can't see whats going on here.

In the CRM demo app for the admin VP, it uses the bootstrap theme with the Main, Top Bar, Left and Status frames available. When it runs, the Top Bar stretches right across the screen and the Left and Main Frames come underneath the top bar.

Now, If I setup a VP that appears to be the same in my app the Left frame stretches top to bottom and the top bar and main are on the right... what could be different?

even a fresh VP in the CRM app does the same, so what am I missing here?

Select "Top Bar"---> In middle top of the screen select "Other Settings" -> "Menu bar runs across the entire screen"
