To address the original comment in the thread regarding the timeout message; I have used AIM to do extensive mobile apps, through Phonegap. One test app is a list app which I created for myself and family for shopping. We all go through the picklist on our phones and select the items we are buying. Then by the time the person gets to the store, and they go to mark what they buy, it say's 'session time out'. So everything is non-functioning except the 'Logout' button. Now I implemented the auto login, so the user never needs to login after the first time. However, if the session is timed out, and the user hits the logoff button (which they don't know they have to do that), it would bring them to the login screen, auto re-populated, and then just hit login and they are back in.
So what I would like are two possibilities. One, if the session times out (or is about to), to automatically log the user out which would leave them on the login screen and they just hit login. (actually it would be even better, since the login is auto populated, to auto reblog them in). The second option would be to be able to change the message to say 'Session expired, please log out and re-login' or something to that effect.
This is very important because an end user would not know to click the menu to log out since everything seems dead and they would think they have to close the program, start it up, etc. and it then becomes user unfriendly.
I also have a time app when a user gets to a job. When they want to mark lunch, done for the day, etc. Same problem. Most mobile apps you login once and it remembers which AIM does allow you to do through phonegap. Simplicity. But the 'session time out' without the user knowing what to do, ruins the ease of use. Hopefully support will address this seemingly minor but important issue.
