So, after watching one of the more recent videos on using auto refresh on a VP with multiple panels, I am liking it a LOT, since I can start with a CLEAN screen with only a query and when the user selects a record on the query, then have multiple other panels refresh and display whats required.
For those who have not used this technique, for any panels on a VP you want to start blank and have them conditionally display some data, you do the following:
1). Create a HTML panel (can't just be empty)
2). In the Refresh setting, you tell it what process(es) should trigger the refresh and then you have a process run for the auto refresh. In most cases your process will either run a query or view a form.
This works great, except I want to conditionally NOT display a panel, so for instance, if I have a query with customers on the left, showing ALL customers, and when the user selects a customer if their credit limit is < XXX then show the details in another panel but if > XXX then leave that panel blank.
Its easy to condition so the rule only runs when the condition is true, BUT if I have previously selected a valid customer, when I scroll to a new one that should be blank, it leaves the previous data on the screen. Is there a way to clear the panel? Can I have my process return NOTHING to clear it?
Hope I explained this well
