my understanding is that aware will use phonegap plugin (more than one available)

Perhaps support could give us a quick overview of how push functionality will work in 7.1

If would be really helpful to begin to think ahead of how we might use the functionality, but that will depend on how it works (not technically, but functionally)

That was the reason I posted this, so we can begin to plan and ask questions.

This is how push notifications will work in 7.1. There will be two new actions in the Rule Language that you can use in processes:

1) MOBILE SUBSCRIBE
Will register the phone of the user that runs the process that includes this action for push notifications
After the action is executed the system will create an instance of a special predefined object MobilePhone that represents the phone of the user with the unique id

2) MOBILE PUSH MobileNotification TO MobilePhone
This will send a special predefined notification to all mobile phones in the current Context. The attributes of this special notification will allow you to specify the text of the message and different other parameters - sound, icon etc

This action will send a push notification through a Google Messaging Service (GCM) for Android devices and through APNS (Apples Push Notification Service) for iOS devices

By the way, if anyone is interested in being a guinea pig and test APNS functionality it could really help us. You will need an Apple phone and iPad for this. And this process is going to be quite fiddly - you will need to go through a lot of things to set it up.

That's what makes Aware so powerful. It does so much work for us. I remember when Win8 came for Mobile and we were trying to build that in Win8, it was so much work. Now An aware developer can do it in minutes.

I forgot to mention that there is some setup involved as well. Before you can use these actions in your processes you have to enable push notifications for your business space version and enter some parameters for GCM and APNS. To get these parameters you need to setup an account with GCM and enable push notifications API. For GCM it is fairly simple. APNS, though, forces you to jump through the hoops, apparently (like Apple does). We have never tested it yet, so maybe it's not too bad.

Seems google GCM has changed to FCM, see https://developers.google.com/cloud-messaging/

and on first read, it seems like you can get your Apple Push certificate quite painlessly through the Google portal. See https://support.google.com/a/answer/6080359?hl=en

Sorry I can't help beta this - I'm still on 5.9 (financial constraints)
