If it is MS-SQL then have a look at the log files....
In my experience, unless you set them correctly the grow enormous and many times larger than the
actual data. I was worried I would breach the 10GB limit on Express.
Once I sorted that out it is much better. I have like 400 people using the system for 3 years and includes pdf attachment for nearly every one of the main BOs of the system and the entire data is still only just over 400 MB.
