(solved) Installing new build.

How do you install the latest build? I downloaded a trial yesterday but it's still 2164. I've bought my licence if that makes a difference.

Can't seem to find anything anywhere on how to do it (though that might say more about me than anything else).

Ok, found how to download it.

Anything special I have to do to apply it? It looks like a complete install, which I assume will blatt over my configs, etc.

Is it just a case of copying the props files somewhere safe and then reapplying them?

David, be sure not to install the Trial on the licensed version. If you log to your account and click on UPDATE, you will get the latest licensed version.

Personally, I don't like to copy older configuration files onto newer version. I basically go and upgrade those files manually after install.

Yeah I was thinking the same. I'm just creating a script which will search & replace all my server names, passwords, etc. so I can run it after each upgrade.

Sorry but I do need this clarifying please ...

The process to update is :

unpack the update archive over the top of the old one
modify the props files to reflect my server details
reapply the licence key?

if I just unpack the archive over the top of the old version, won't that give me a new product key and therefore invalidate my licence? Or is the update tailored to me with my product key already in it?

Just need to confirm before I do it, as I can't find any documentation on that.

Just download the SETUP.EXE from your account and run it. It will ask you if you want to overwrite the previous, selct "Yes". That's it. No need to mess with license key.

I'm on Linux for the sever, there's no setup.exe

Right - last thing I need to know - I am running the Windows config tool and accessing the AwareIM server remotely. I have successfully (I think) installed the upgrade to 2167.

BUT - the "About" box on the config tool still shows 2164. Should that change with the server update or do I need to change something else as well?

In the IDE, from help, what version do you see? I've never done remote IDE, but something is not right when you have missmatch version between CP and IDE. Check the IDE's version.

The IDE shows 2164 (clicking Help->About). Note that I'm using the config tool as the IDE as I have a client/server set up and run the IDE remotely from the server.

HOWEVER -
I just noticed that when I start it up it prints this to the screen. It show past so fast I missed it :

So looks like all is good!

If the About is showing 2164 in CP and IDE, I doubt you have a perfect installation between server and client part. I'd check this with other users or support who have done Unix and Remote combo.
I tried to help, but I haven't experience in this combo. Sorry!
