Processing XML files

Hi Everyone,

Have searched and tried to figure this out as best I can but I don't quite see how this works, I can see the IMPORT and IMPORT RELATIONSHIPS functions but am struggling to find the information on how to use them effectively.

As part of my system I am wanting to have XML inserted into an SQL table as as blob and then using Aware process the blob of XML into the Business objects and allow aware to manage the relationships between the bo's...

Apologies if there is a guide for this as I can't find info on it...

I should add, if there is a better way of doing this in aware rather than using xml/blob etc let me know how you would do it. I have control to an extent of how the data will be delivered. We would prefer to keep it in a db and not use files

You can IMPORT XML to create Business Objects using
IMPORT bo FROM XML bo.attribute

Check out the IMPORT Action in the User Guide.

There is also suppose to be a ExportImport.txt file in the AwareIM docs folder with more information. But it seems to be missing in newer versions of AwareIM. Attached is the file from an old version of AwareIM.

I am using this function in version 6 of AwareIM. I have not upgraded to version 7 but I would assume it would work with that version too.

I also do not use Blobs, so let me know if it works with those.

Thanks for that info Bob, makes a little more sense wow, will let you know how I got processing from a blob once I get a chance to look at it again

IMPORT ... FROM XML

will only import XML of a particular format described in the ExportImport.txt

If your XML has a different format you will probably need a plugin to read it and perform whatever actions are necessary based on its contents.
