Unknown Column Error - HUGE PROBLEM

Hi Guys... I'm sitting with my hands in my hairs.

I have a system (Version 6) That has a forum capability. I use a Group (Forum) with two objects: ForumPost & ForumPostReply. Eveything was working fine until I recently opened it and got the Following error:

Now... I've had this problem in the past and I know how to solve this under normal circumstances. HOWEVER... Somehow the system won't allow me to delete or Rename the LoginName column (Which is redundant as I don't use it anywhere) in the ForumPost Object and when I try to add it to ForumPostReply...It says that attribute name is 'Reserved for System Use'.

I have No idea how that column got there in the first place because it's not part of the systemUsers group, so the only thing I can think of is that Aware somehow allowed me to create this column in an earlier version of 6, and now that has been changed. Problem is that this system is already in production so I have no Idea how to fix this now and get rid of that column....

Any ideas would be helpful.

Support... Please confirm if you are perhaps aware of a change in one of the Aware6 versions that could have affected this.

I have had experiences where AwareIM add attributes like this to objects without my request. As you know, AIM will add the LoginName attribute to an object automatically when you add it to the system users group. Same thing here but I've known it to do it erroneously. I think that's your issue. You may see the unwanted attribute in your object and you may be able to delete it. I remember that one time I was not able to delete it and sent the BSV to support and they did. It's a software bug. AwareSoft should address it.

am I not understanding the problem? Aware thinks this column should be in the database, but it isn't. If thats the case, cant you use an external tool to alter the table and add this column?

Yea, I know, You should NOT have to do this, but this will get you operational again.

Thanks for the feedback! I thought it might be a software problem since I definitely never added ForumPost to the SystemUsers Group.

@Support, please confirm if you are aware of a problem like this and if it will be in order to send you teh BSV to remove the attribute then.

Bruce, yup I already added the Column to the ForumPostReply object directly in the database but I absolutely don't like having a database that is not 100% in sync with my bsv... To me that is a ticking timebom for Data Loss & Integrity errors when publishing. So even though the system is operational now, I'd like to have this fixed properly. 🙂

but, now that you are in sync with the DB (since you added the field, what would happen if you close aware, and reopen aware then try to delete the field?

Please check your access levels - do you have any "Creator:..." access levels defined? (especially for this object). If you have remove them and replace with equivalent protection rules. These access levels are obsolete and are superceded by the protection rules. They may introduce a dependency on the LoginName attribute

Thank you support! There was one accessLevel that had a Creator:Modify rule. As soon as I removed that the LoginName attribute was automatically removed. 🙂
