I would like to put in my vote for the following Feature Request (FR) which keeps popping up in so many app cases for Mobile . The following FR actually requires two features that would accomplish the final FR.
Title:
Ability to take picture using a new ACTION in process, which takes picture by calling the action which takes pictures and saves it to (upload & save) BO attribute directly.
Description:
a) We need a new "Action" (let's call it "TAKE_PICTURE") that can be called from a process. This action will take a picture by passing a parameter of BO.ATTRIBUTE to it.
b) A very important feature using Phonegap, when TAKE_PICTURE is called, on the client side (Phone/tablet), the JS code using Phonegap API will activate Camera's capture feature and takes a picture. However, the trick is NOT to save it to the local storage of device but rather upload & pass the image from device's memory directly to the "BO.Attribute" that was passed to the TAKE_PICTURE's parameter. This automation will eliminates two lengthy and manual process by human that can be eliminated. 1) Giving it a name to store it 2) searching for it again to upload it server. Basically, the Upload process is automated and called by Aware directly.
By having this automated action we can then have this action called from a process that fully automates taking pictures. For example:
CREATE Logs.Time=CURRENT_TIMESTAMP, LOGS.Location='North Campus'
TAKE_PICTURE(Logs.Picture)
UPDATE Logs
This way we can have an automate system, to take snap shot stored in database with default values right from a process that can be called from scheduling system.
There are many cases where user doesn't have the time to save images to device and then search for them to upload to a new record. For example, insurance agents may need to take many pictures of an accident or burnt house or etc., where they need to take those pictures quickly that directly get saved to DB to a particular object without filling up their device with images.
This feature will get many developers' attention to built such apps with Aware.
