v7 Look and Feel

ask180

What am I missing? In terms of background, I am a non-technical user who develops applications in Aware IM. So I basically take all the defaults, and have no idea how to do things with Java and CSS. And AwareIM has been great for letting me do stuff.

The way I read it, version 7 was going to have (amongst other things) a modern look and feel.

Having downloaded it, and sampled all of the default themes, they all look vanilla Arial font, with changes in colours. Doesn't look any more modern than previous versions. In fact, the version 6 themes offered more variety in fonts / colours/ presentation.

Has AwareIM become a more technical developer's tool, and no longer targetting non-technical users like me?

More like the other way around 🙂

Have you seen sample applications? Themes are totally different and they look modern and professional.

Moreover, you can change the font size of your visual perspective and everything automatically becomes bigger or smaller.

We believe that version 7.0 is a huge step forward, but, I guess, there will still be people who prefer the old look and feel.

I agree. The V7 look and feel is way better than V6 ... and it provides more flexibility to make modifications for those that want more than out of the box.

Thanks for the comments. But what I need is an example.

I acknowledge that I can change the font size, which is great. I would also like to change the font, from what looks like Arial, to something like Callibri. As a non-technical person, where "in-the-box" can I do that?

Create your own CSS file with the following content:

body {
font-family: calibri;
}

Put this file into AwareIM/Tomcat/webapps/AwareIM/Custom/CSS/YourBusinessSpace directory

Refresh the browser. This font will be used for the application with the name YourBusinessSpace

Indeed, HUGE step forward...A new reborn of AwareIM.

AwareSoft has made a great decision changing to Kendo UI. Like all other big changes, this is only the beginning (like Support said in other post regarding of offline feature). Myself I believe that this is the new beginning of great looking apps.

Regarding to css&html these two are so easy to learn (like AwareIM) and you have tones of examples on the web. I suggest to try http://codecademy.com to begin learning the concepts of html and CSS.
After you get it, only the sky is the limit 🙂

ask80 , if you need help, let me know. Glad to put a light on a AwareIM developer's life (others did the same with me in the past) 🙂

Cheers,

Support and Weblike, thanks for your comments. Sounds like I'd better look into learning CSS. I will also try Support's example.
