V7 Query

Hi,

On v6, I specified the column width(px) on most of my QUERY, BUT when imported in V7, i feel like it is being ignored.

has anyone else experience this?

I am running Silver theme on V7 and font size=12

and a follow up, is there a way to control the ROW Height???

Cris, after some testing, I've found the best thing to do, is to clear those numbers and let calculate them according to responsiveness mode. When I change the width I browser, everything looks good.
This is part of my conversion to clear all these columns.

Another tip is that, check the box to allow to drop the navigation bar to drop. It makes the query look cleaner.

There is definitely a change in this behaviour. I have written to support and they want examples
(which i will do shortly).

I can see the useful nature of having things auto resize based on minimum screen resolutions, however in some cases this problematic due to existing screen made up in v6.

I'll post up an example soon.

I used incorrect wording. I meant "Stretch to the bottom of screen"

Thanks for your input.

The only way I can get it back to working in 'V6 mode' is to specify a width for the entire query.

I agree that responsiveness is good for different devices BUT if an application is desktop-specific then this will be another 'to-do' when moving to V7 (for us that is).

Cris, I'd like to share some thoughts with you to take into considerations.

V7 required a complete change of UI library from one vendor to another with a total new theme behavior.
In my previous life when I did ASP.Net or Winform and changed one UI library to another, it required A LOT of changes in the app.
As far as I'm concern, Aware team had done a GREAT job to minimize the amount of changes we have to do. I say they had taken 95% of the hit...
Now for the other 5%, it really pays off to go through ALL the Forms and queries and make proper adjustment. I'm in the middle of conversion now and I have to tell you, (to take advantage of V7) I'm making changes to EVERY desktop form and re-doing the Mobile.
I have a lot of forms. Some objects have over 20 forms. I could leave them as is, but why...?

If you thought changing a few queries, adds to your "To-Do" list, guess what? when you get to forms, your "To-Do" list just got bigger... 😃

Well, there are different amount of work, depending on:

1) If you're converting or starting from scratch
2) How much CSS/HTML did you mix in your V6 forms
3) Do you just want to have a vanilla looking form, or want to customize it

In case 1, I'm finding some strange cases when Operation menus were imported that had folders or using left/right panels. Some I have to delete and do them over again.

In case 2, I had customized all the menus, section tabs, all the buttons and separators with HTML/CSS. For every form I have to remove all of that to stay clean with Kendo UI Themes. This is very time consuming.

In case 3, with V7 you can standardize your forms, it's header, where the operation panels go and etc. I figure I upgrade my look, plus I want the Mobile & desktop to look very close, so users can switch easily.
My whole Menu approach is changing.

My previous post comment to Cris was, "There is more in Forms than queries".

I think the show and tell sessions at the aware conference in a month are going to be great! I'm really looking forward to seeing how everyone is using the new found per of V7 😃
