What are your 3 fav. new features in V7?

BLOMASKY

Just for the fun of it.

Since a few of us (most!) have been playing with V7. This is a 2 part questions. 1st part, what are your 3 (no more!) fav. new features in V7. and what ONE feature do you think could have been done better? (Yes, I do know that there are some limitations that Kendo enforces.... but you can still say what you don't like).

Since I started this, here are my 3 fav. new features
1). Hierarchical Grids! (I have NOT used them yet, but they seem very appealing..)
2) Better integration with HTML and Aware (painted with a big brush here. covers Auto Refresh, better CSS integration, widgets in HTML...etc... etc.)
3) Grid summaries in each column!

Now, I am less than happy with the way filters work now.

But, on a 0 to 10 scale, I would give V7 an 9.24...
more or less...

My 6 most favorite (there are more...)
1) Mobile Navigation
2) Mobile UI
3) Ability to use Grid in Mobile.
4) Modeless Windows - Love this
5) Badges in toolbar - Had to do it myself in V6 but the V7 version is much better.
6) Mobile Gallery Scroll view.

My least favorite
The new VP design in IDE has become unorganized and requires too much switching tabs to get menus and stuff working. the User eXperience part is not up to par.

BenHayat

I forgot the 2 MOST favorite feature which should be at the top.

1) "Go back" button in Mobile.
2) Queries in Mobile show in the body of the form. User still sees the toolbar header and "Back" button. Very important feature.

Just confirmed another great feature with the big boss... 🙂
Mobile uses the same Desktop URL on REAL phone and it intelligently uses the Mobile VP. This is very important and great feature to be added to my list.

I wood like that badges to function in Standard menu too. (It only functioning in a menu of the toolbar or tabs).

I hope Support can get it to work with Standard menu as well.

BLOMASKY

and I thought 3 was such a SIMPLE number! 🙂

I see you are doing a lot of mobile development. I wonder what % of us are still just building desktop replacements and how many are building for different clients (desktop, tablets and mobile).

1) Ability to easily place buttons in an HTML cell on a form.

2) Ability to expand query instances and display the instance on a form .. then the form opened can also have reference attributes that can also be expanded and edited on a form. Slick! I haven't even explored this fully and I love it already.

3) ability to SAVE SCREEN of an entire screen, then email it / save it / etc. Very handy to capture entire VPs and Dashboards.

Why is number 1 easier now Tom?

Number 2.... Agree... Gorgeous.

Number 3.... haven't discovered that yet

Mark,

1) Ability to easily place buttons in an HTML cell on a form.

When you place an HTML cell on a form, there is now a button option that you can hang a process on or a long list of other options:

Well... there you go. Didn't even see that.

Thanx Tom

A lot of great stuff in v7 and below are more general thoughts of the best new things / improvements and not 3 specific features.

More options, thinking about responsiveness for example, better HTML options and also the option for us to use scripts and things like jQuery with the html in VP´s, queries, forms etc..In < v.7 a lot of the more advanced things like scripts etc. were limited / restricted by Aware IM.
Responsiveness features.
Almost identical options/features for desktop/tablet/mobile.
