Can I get control when record de-selected?

I have a VP with 2 context panels. One has a query with filters, the other is the target and when a record is selected in the query, the detail is displayed in the target panel.

Works, fine, but when the user clicks on the filter, and enters new search criteria, we have a disconnect. The detail is still displayed for the previous selected record, but now a new set of records are displayed in the query. My question, do I have any way to have the detail window go away when the user starts a new filter?

I don't think there is a way to clear that area.

In the form that shows the detail, use the "Refresh" feature to refresh that object. Which means if the object is gone from the context for the next query, then the form gets an automatic refresh. I've used it in other similar area and worked.

I had not used it in VP with different panels but I had used it in my app where when the query changed that affected the objects in the context it also refreshed the form. But for my refresh I had used both "Process" and Object to cause the Refresh.
Maybe in VP it doesn't work. I've seen refresh work in some areas but not work in another area.
