Why is query against External db much slower than awareDB

Using MSSQL. I have 2 BOs that are identical except one is External and one is Aware. A query with no filters runs < 1 second for the aware one and over 4 secs. for the external. Wondering why?

Hi Bruce,

Just a guess, but when you imported the external db, did you set the primary index to use? Aware creates an 'm_xxx' file inside the database which it uses as a link to the actual external db.

I think this needs to be looked at by aware as a general as from time to time (like in our case), the main system is not written in aware and we just use aware as a 'front door' to the customers.

Thanks for the response!

I did set the primary index (which Aware seems to want if it will update data), but since I am not filtering the query, I would assume that aware was just sending a "Select * from ExternalTable" to SQL and it should be fast. Oh well.
