Importing Document Management Functionality

Short of copying each object and all the dependencies, is there any way to import/merge applications in Aware? Document Management is an example of a nice block of functionality that could be dropped into a lot of larger applications.

No.

That being said, I have duplicated & tested large blocks of AwareIM BSVs in a few hours ... a very small percentage of the time it would have take me to do the entire process from scratch.

Have you found a specific methodology that works best, or do you just kind of wade into it?

I've started one of these by trying to get the obvious pieces, like the BOs, then use the integrity checker to help me ferret out the rest. Is there a better way?

You're on the right track. I don't have a specific methodology, but the integrity checker is a life saver. I try to not let the integrity checker list get too big, but that's just my attempt to keep things relatively orderly.

Like you said you did, I'd focus first on the BOs and the relationships between BOs, then build from there.

I am a little saddened that merging applications isn't easier, because the PoC I am working on includes Document Management, Issue Resolution, CRM, and maybe a bit of Project Management. But this morning I had the thought that it might be possible to use the sample apps together - by somehow using the same table or service for authentication or syncing them, or through some other strategy.

I'm working on finalizing a demo that will show how to have two BSVs "talk" to each other. Should be complete in the next day or two.

Ken, just a suggestion....
You WILL learn how to "Think" in Aware Metaphor much sooner and better if you start creating projects on your own with your own mentally created ideas than trying to create something from samples. I know others who tried to use CRM and change it and then called it "Their" accounting system, and it never happened. Samples are only good as a point of reference to see something done.
CREATE a complete idea first then build it with Aware. That's what "Software Engineering" is, regardless of the tool.

My two cents are also with Ben... If you're new, rebuild it rather than copy. It's fast to build, and you will have a much better understanding of how it works. Support will be a lot easier as a result. Good luck!
