Sorry, I should have posted a link, but I was in transit- there was some kind of duress, and I just dashed that off.
The second link that Ben posted is the one I was looking at - I had assumed that control could edit RTF/DOC. I had looked at another set of controls from Infragistics that does RTF editing, but that was in .NET, and probably mixed them up.
There are probably a lot of cases where Word format is being used, and HTML would be sufficient and easier to handle.
If the typical office correspondence can be written in HMTL, with nothing fancier than an image in the header and maybe a bulleted list, especially if merge codes can be inserted, and saved to a DocumentManagement system in PDF, that seems really valuable.
My original motivation for the question was that Zoho doesn't work in test mode if you don't have an FQDN for your test server, if I am understanding correctly, and I am thinking that it would be nice to show document editing at an upcoming internal demo. We are also looking at Offline capability for our app, and I know that Offline is on the feature list of v7, so using a lightweight local editor seems consistent with that feature, too.
Anyway, I still think it's an interesting question.
