I have an attribute in RegularUser called URL. I would like to be able to add a url for each user which would act as a hyperlink in various forms that would take them to each users website in a new window. Is there a way to do this?

Secondly, I am trying to figure out how to send an html email but the documentation is pretty sketchy and I can't find anything much in this forum about it. I have the plain text version working, so am I correct in understanding that to convert the message to html format, I need to add an attribute in the BO called HTMLMessage of document type and within an instance of that BO, browse to a local html file? I have tried that and it still sends the triggered message as plain text. I think that I am missing something here. Any help would be appreciated.

1) We are going to implement an ability to add hyperlinks on forms to display URLs stored in object attributes. We will update this topic when the new functionality is available.

2) When you add a new outgoing email notification in the Configuration Tool, the attribute HTMLMessage is created for you automatically. You then need to ensure that the attribute contains a valid HTML document when the notification is constructed in the operation mode but before it is sent. The easiest way to do it is to set its Initial Value in Configuration Tool to a HTML document template defined in the business space. The template may have tags that will be filled with the actual values - as per the standard functionality of the document templates.

Great thanks, I have it working now. The part about adding an html document template in the configuration tool is what I missed originally, I thought that it was referring to just a simple html file that I was using as a template. I will wait for the url functionality, it will be handy.

Is there any way I can use the DISPLAY URL command to open a new window?

Currently the command opens the URL in the body section of the form and the AWAREIM top banner is still present.

You cannot do it with DISPLAY URL action, however, you can use URL action type in the menu (configuring a menu in a Visual Perspective) - there is an option there to display URL in a separate window.

This can be done, but it requires manual editing of a JSP file. You will need to do the following:

1) Configure a process that would display the url:
DISPLAY URL boContact.WebDirectoryURL
2) Define a menu item that would run this process

This will only display the url in the same window. To get Aware IM to display it in a new window you will need to edit the file that starts with "BAS_MenuV...".jsp and located in the AwareIM/Tomcat/webapps/AwareIM directory.

You will need to find the line starting with
<menu:menuitem ...
corresponding to the item that starts the process and edit this line to add the following:

<menu:menuitem target="_blank" ...

An alternative solution is to use a completely custom menu with a hyperlink that starts the process. At the HTML level the hyperlink would also have a target="_blank" attribute.

You can look up sample applications that contain examples of such menus.

Just checking in to see if this is still in the plans. I would like to display a URL and / or email address and have them be clickable.

You can now easily accomplish this if you display the value of the attribute in the HTML cell inside tags (check out this forum for this feature). The HTML could look like this:

<a href="<<Object.Attribute>>">
Link to click
</a>

That format would be applicable to a Presentation, Report or Form --- and NOT possible to display on a query, right?

I have placed the following HTML in a Form cell to be able to open a new browser window from Aware:

<a href="<<LoggedInRegularUser.DocumentPathRelative>>" target="_blank"><<LoggedInRegularUser.DocumentNameBeforeReplace>></a>

I know that in a custom presentation, you can place a link or an attribute that contains a link. Is there any way in a custom presentation to place the above HTML in a cell so that the link opens in a new window?
