Hi Kevin,
Seconding Ben, Welcome the the Aware IM Community.
There are basically two initial head humps that you need to get over and you will never look back.
The first is Relationships between Business Objects and the second is Processes and Context.
Seems like you have bumped into the first already.
There is a fair bit you info around. Here on the forum, the Video Tutorials on the Aware site (the 6 part tutorial on building a whole app is a valuable resource). We have also started
an Aware IM Developers site and I have recently added the first couple of Blogs (Attribute Naming Conventions is Aware and Part 1 on Relationships - Owner Of and Owned By - Peer will be Part 2) which might shine some light on you thinking.
Additionally, either PM me here or send me an email to info@awareimdevelopers.com or eagles9999@gmail.com and I will be happy to schedule an hour with you to help you get over the Relationships issue quickly. I too came from an environment where the developer had to manage keys, indexes and ID for records and relationships between tables....so I can understand the issues associated with being told you don't have to do that anymore. 😉
Anyway, we are here to help in any way we can.... just stick your hand up.
In a line I stole from Keith Canniff - thanx Keith - "If it takes you more than 20 minutes to figure out then you are most likely doing it wrong!"
We also have some additional resources....
The Aware IM Developers Linked In Page and Facebook Page and twitter @DWAwareIM.
Heidi is running weekly webinars to help those coming from the Magic/UniPaas community - Next is scheduled for Thursday at 4.00pm WST - let me know if you want the link. Max class size is 25 I think (Note Heidi has not been well so it may be postponed this week)
Rennur's page has a death of info... https://github.com/RennurApps/AwareIM-resources
We have the next Aware IM Developers Conference happening late Feb 2016 in Phuket. Details are being developed and will be released in the coming weeks. (The last on in Vegas in April 2015 was a blast - <shameless plug mode on> note that the entire contents including workshops demo, presentations and videos of every Presentation and workshop are available for the measly sum of $300 - contact me if interested </shameless plug mode off>
As mentioned, we have started a new page at https://awareimdevelopers.com which will slowly fill up with valuable help.
Enough Already!.
Welcome aboard. Just stick ya hand up if you need a leg up.
