Is there a way to run a SQL query without using a stored procedure?

Can you give a little more detail. You can connect to a SQL view using external BO and you can write quite complex SQL code within a query itself.

It's a big query with UNIONS that result in a virtual BO... I can accomplish this with stored procedures or even with VIEW.
But it's the third time I update a version and forgot to create the procedures
I just wanted to know if it is possible to put a query like this directly in the application

Per the User Guide .. it looks like executing SP's is the preferred approach, but have you tried creating a query in the config tool and pasting the SQL from the SP into the SQL tab?

You could use AwareIM's EXECUTE PROGRAM to run a batch file that connects to the DB and runs your query. I do this with MySQL and assume you could do something similar with other DBs.

Are you saying that when you update a version you lose your stored procedures? I have not experienced this using MySQL, what DB are you using?
