using export path set by user

Hello,

I need to export data to a path set by the user.
What I currently have is working but the path is hard coded I need to be able to set the path based on what the user selects.

EXPORT AVX_Sales_Ledger TO 'ExportAVXSalesLedger\ExportAVXSalesLedger.csv' USING 'Export AVX_Sales Ledger'

There is no function in Aware to select a folder Roger as far as I have been able to find.

Have considered writing a plugin for it as it would be very useful.

I think the issue is you cant export data to a folder on the Client and you can select a folder on the server.

Well, that is how my pea sized brain understands these mysterious things.

Would be delighted for someone else to chime in who understands it better.

One way to achieve this (as i've done it in a few of my business spaces) is to create an attribute in SystemSettings (if its a global config) or LoggedInRegularUser (if its per user).

What you can do then is use something similar in a process (in this example a global export)

EXPORT AVX_Sales_Ledger TO SystemSettings.Export_Path+'ExportAVXSalesLedger.csv' USING 'Export AVX_Sales Ledger'

Setting a path and then appending it to the begin of the file name was what I was trying to do, but I couldn't get the F3 list to open so I thought i was doing something wrong.
I will try it again with you example.

Mark is correct:

I think the issue is you cant export data to a folder on the Client and you can select a folder on the server.

You can also use DISPLAY DOCUMENT, then let the user download the document to their local client system if they desire.

Prior to being able to rename documents from within AwareIM, I had one system where I:

- exported the document to the server using a calculated file name
- imported that document back into a Document attribute
- presented the document to the user on a special form of LoggedInRegularUser that simiply showed the file (with upload disabled) and some instructions on the form to the user about how to download the file.
