►Application Directory◄ for Aware IM

Hello Guys;
As we all have some form of relation with AwareIM product and we build applications with it, our development result can be the best testimonial and proof of Aware's power.

I'd like to suggest to Awaresoft to create such directory, so developers who have developed full fledged apps can submit to this directory (with text, screen shots and/or videos) to show the public their products.

Not only this direction will help new prospects to get a glimpse what Aware can do for them to advertise Aware IM, but also, it is a great opportunity for the vendor to be listed to public.

I'd like to open this thread for Awaresoft and developers to exchange ideas to create such directory.

Great idea Ben. I personally think the best tool for such a directory would be an AwareIM BSV. As long as we keep the requirements relatively simple, I'd be willing to collaborate on writing the BSV if AwareIM is willing to host the directory BSV when it's complete.

Tom, I think the idea of developing the directory in Aware is a great idea, because if it is done in the Awaresoft Static website, the housekeeping is more work on Awaresoft and if it is not updated, then it will be useless. But by having it as Aware app, entries can be maintained much easier.

Each App owner will present the info to you via email or a special submit form and you become the main admin for the data. Each app should allow many screenshots, video and HTML text. It should have rating by readers.
The directory app should be close to Look & Feel of Aware's website, to blend in.
A reader should be able to contact Apps owner, App's website and etc.
You should also create a category, and categorize the apps, say all Medical apps goes in one category.

Each app should also have a link in their marketing site to point to Awaresoft. This will create a better traffic to Awaresoft, which will be better for directory apps as well.

Just some ideas from the top of my head.

Seems like a more practical way would be for interested parties to submit a request for an account to post on the directory, then once the user is approved, make it a self post application. This would eliminate the possiblity of spammers.

Before even moving forward on such a directory, I think there should be a minimum number (not sure what that # is) of people that commit to posting into about their app. This could even be a repository for sample applications or BSVs that demonstrate a concept (like I've posted to Tips and Tricks).

Tom, I agree on both fronts and also adding demos as well. I hope support will read this and gives us their view. But yes, we need to see how many people are willing to submit.
I guess this thread is a good place to get counts.

If I can just get the time Ben this is my intent also.

I an currently looking at getting opencms working on one of my servers..... it is installed and working at awareimdevelopers.com...
but I just have not had time to learn how to start modifying the content YET.

I intend to have a directory page for Aware IM Developers where they can add the services they offer and apps/plugins etc that the sell and support.

Hi Mark;

My "Primary" objective for the App Directory was to boost credit to Aware IM, as a "Capable" framework to build business applications. I recently introduced Aware to a prospect, and he asked me to show him a list of applications that are developed with Aware. It was a fair request that I didn't have answer to.
So, I started to think that almost every "app tool" product in the market, show the results that can be obtained by the product. Granted we have a few demos, but those are way too elementary to convince a company to shift over. And that's why I prompted this thread.

Although, your idea is also great to go in parallel and complement this direction to show a list of developers who also offer service and app development. So we could use both, but lake of directory says very little about the capabilities of Aware IM.

Good ideas / discussions and looking forward to hearing more about this and I would also be interested in playing a part in this. I have also thought about this before and even done some work trying to build it (DevNet, Snippetbox etc.) but these projects are currently on ice.
