George,
The reason the center tag no longer works is because of a change in behaviour in the Sencha library in V6.
In earlier versions Aware defaulted to "knowing" the width of the cell containing the html. So back then if you used, for example, the background style
tag link background: #eee; then the entire background of the cell would be painted the desired colour. However, as mentioned, Sencha threw to toys our of the
sand pit....which seems to be becoming more prevalent.... and now you need to explicitly defined a width. So, imagine this....
You have a form with two columns 50% each and say the form is 1000px wide.
In the right hand column you add a html cell with Label Hidden containing
<div style="text-align:center">Centered Text</div> - The text will be displayed hard up against the left hand side of the cell
<div style="text-align:center;background: #eee;">Centered Text</div> - The text will be displayed hard up against the left hand side of the cell and only the background of the actual text will be coloured.
<div style="text-align:center;width:650px;background: #eee;">Centered Text</div> The text will be displayed in the center of the cell and then first 650px from the left of the cell will be have then background painted. I think this is what you are chasing.
Please note that the unfortunate part of this change is that I have not found a way to dynamically paint the entire background of the cell like before in the event that the browser width is changed.
You will also note that Page 159 of the User Guide is incorrect as it still refers to V5.9 functionality.....
The HTML used to display the cell with the yellow background:
<div style=”border: solid 1px gray; margin-bottom:3px; PADDING: 8; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; FONT-SIZE: 12px; COLOR: #600000; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #FFFFEC; TEXT-ALIGN: justify; LINE-HEIGHT:1.2em”>
