First Deployment of an application DB name issues

Hello,

The application I am working on needs to access external data from an MS-SQL database.
In the DB settings for the BO's that point to the Local local version of the SQL DB have a machine name of localhost. The database Name is "databasenameTest" and I am using the username SA and password.

The production machine has a different machine name same database name but without the "test" at the end of it and a different username and pw. When I exported the bsv and put in the the AUTO_DEPLOYMENT directory it published it but now I cannot access any of the eternal SQL tables.

Is there a file I can update ti make these changes? how do you manages different names when working with Test and production environments?

When creating the URL can you just create a shortcut on the users desktop that points the to the application:
ie. http://ipaddress😛ort#/awareim/logonOp.aw?domain=appname

You can do something about it if your database environments only differ in connection settings, but not if they are different in table names. You have to manage it yourself - either change your BSV before you give it to production or rename your testing environment.

Its the same DB tables names are no different. I can rename my test DB and remove Test off the end of the name.
As far as machine name and username and PW, your saying I have to changes those before I export the bsv? Then change them back so I can continue to develop on my local machine and access the external sql DB ?

Can I do this once the bsv has been imported into production. start the configurator and load the latest version and change the DB settings there?

When you define properties of your external database connection there is an option to specify the "runtime" setting of the connection URL. Off the top of my head you have to provide an expression where this URL is stored - for example, in some attribute in SystemSettings. Then it's the matter of initializing this attribute to the value depending on where the system is running.
