►Q for Support◄ Will next version have 64-bit Aware Server?

Previously, we have voiced our concern for lack of 64-bit Aware server and Support's replay was "We know...".

So, now the question is are we going to have a 64-bit version of Aware in next major release?

Past week, I was talking to a prospect, and they said they want to take full advantage of 64-bit environment along with Java-64, Tomcat-64, SQL-64 and Linux-64. The most important is the Application server that does 80% of the work.

Yes, we will support 64-bit out-of-the box. But you can easily set up Java 64-bit yourself now. There are multiple threads explaining how to do this.

Thanks, but I was specifically referring to Aware Application server being a 64-bit complaint. Not just the supporting servers that could be 64-bit (as of now), but Aware is still 32-bit.
So will Aware be 64-bit too?

Aware IM is already 64-bit compliant - it is entirely up to Java used by Aware IM

This is excellent news and I didn't know that. I think this should be clearly stated in the documents and website.

I saw your original post on this, could not quite understand what you were getting at. As long as you you have the 64 bit configuration in place the 3 Java machines that run make up the whole environment. i.e. 64bit - JVM-Config, JVM-Tomcat JVM- Aware

Hi Tony;

From my past experience working with different Application servers or creating ones, they were mostly created as DLL or a full EXE or a Service. In either case, they were "compiled/created" as either 32-bit or 64-bit.
So, my understanding was Aware Application was also created/compiled as such, unless it's using JIT compiler every time it's loaded, which then makes sense to have a 64-bit Java runtime installed.
