So you are using a process to CREATE or Update the data in your AIM BO rather than an Import from a csv or some other format is that correct?
Do you find this method easier and faster when updating data?
I've had BSVs that were built entirely on imported data & now I have the BSV I described above that has both AwareIM data & external data that work in concert with each other.
1) Imported data - In the BSV that imported data into AwareIM, the source was an Access database. Periodically a series of CSV files were exported from the Access database & placed in a folder where a scheduled AwareIM process would periodically look for the CSV files and import them. In this BSV, the purpose was 100% for searching, displaying, reporting, and emailing the data in various forms.
2) Hybrid - External data + AwareIM data - In the CMS scenario I outlined above, a nightly sync process uses CREATE to create any new AwareIM records that are needed. There is a 1:1 relationship between the AwareIM GameAssignment records and the external Game records. In our case, there are two main purposes to the system:
a) to provide an easy process for both desktop & mobile updates Game records in the external database. The appropriate GameAssignment record is chosen by a user either from a query screen or via encrypted email link leading directly to the record a person needs to update. Since the GameAssignment has a reference to the Game record, the user is presented with a screen to Edit the Game record.
b) there are also attributes in the GameAssignment record that are NOT in the external Game record. These attributes are managed 100% via AwareIM edit Forms.
So, in this BSV, AwareIM gives us the luxury of easily managing both an external database & new related data that does not need to be in the external database.
