I have fields in a query, both plain text, but if I try sort by ascending or descending, it's greyed out and if I try sort by group, I get this: Internal error. Error reading business object. Not unique table/alias: 'Clients_Industry'

Any ideas?

My first question is, are you still running 5.7 and older version of MySQL?

This sounds like a MySql problem.
In scenarios like this I'm doing in this way to diagnose:

Export bsv
Create new BusinessSpace (allocate new DB)
Import bsv (#1)
Test&test
if problem persists report to Support

In some cases I export/import data from old DB.
