Storing document locally

Hi Support

I am trying to implement Document type attribute using File System as storage instead of the Database.

My attributes are:
Within System Settings BO I have a universersal Storage path called
DefaultStorage: network share(\servername\datafiles)
within my SysDocument BO I have two attributes
Name [Document Type
Description: [plain text type]
FilePath: calculated plain text type:

I have a rule that set the document Path using the value of the DefaultStorage.

How can I get the document to be stored here automatically and be able to view them when I click Save on SysDocument BO?

All I want to do is upload the document and instead of storing in the Database I want to store in a Filesystem?

Hi,

You may use EXPORT / IMPORT DOCUMENT functions.

Quick follow up to this :

We are trying to use this now but we get an error from AwareIm every time we try and save / store a document

1) to a local folder on the server
2) to a local folder on the saerver in the "\Tomcat\webapps\AwareIM" folder
3) even when we try and save to a UNC path on a share network drive

Any ideas what is wrong

Error Message:

Internal error. Unable to write document into file system. Exception message C:\AwareIM\Tomcat\webapps\AwareIM (Access is denied)

Hi,

Is quite a while since I have done this, but I remember I had this error at beginning, too.

If I remember this is a Path problem.
Send me a PM with a small bsv describing your problem and I will look into it..

Hi Guys,

One of two things.

1) You don't have permissions to write to that folder. Change the folder permissions to Full Access.
2) Make sure the default file path ends with temp. i.e. (D:\MyFileSystem\temp)
