Hi Guys, well we try to keep it as simple as possible, so the way we implement it is as follow:
On system settings I setup the Outgoing Email Details using the details provided on my SMTP2GO account.
I Use TLS and Port 8025 or 587.
Then to send bulk emails I implement it using a flag on whichever object is applicable. For instance I have a bulk email flag on AccountHolders and then a rule on that object that says: "IF AccountHolder.BulkEmailFlag WAS CHANGED TO YES THEN 'SendEmailReminderToAccountHolder' (This being a process).
The process obviously has AccountHolder as imput. and then works as normal. So for the bulk sending you just have to have another process (Example "SendBulkAccountHolderReminders") where you can either do a find or a pick one or more from to get your batch of account holders you want to send to and then do:
AccountHolder.BulkEmailFlag="Yes"
AccountHolder.BulkEmailFlag="No"
Works like a charm and have been implementing it like this for about 3 years now without any problems.
You get different options on SMTP2GO but we use the one to send about 10 000 mails per month which costs $14. There are also some nice reporting to see how many emails bounced and the state of the account etc. We're very happy!

Hope this helps.
Have a good one!
