Switching button icons on the fly

I have a process which is like a toggle. It is triggered by an icon set on each line of a query list. In short, click once and an aircrafts launch time is recorded, click a second time and the landing time is recorded.

So far I have achieved this with a single "clock" icon, but now I want to be able to start with an icon of an aircraft taking off. After the button is clicked for the first time, I want the icon to change to and aircraft landing.

I've checked the "help" regarding icon rules but they don't seem to apply to processes attache to queries.

Does anyone know how to achieve my objective?

You can have two different operations that each have their own icons and conditions for making that operation visible / active.

Yep, I know that Tom, What I can't do (or figure out) is how to get the buttons for the two operations to occupy the same space on the line. Two operations will require two columns on the grid. At any one time one will be empty and the other visible.

The goal I'm trying to achieve is for the one button to CHANGE it's png icon according it the contents of two attributes.

if uptime is undefined and downtime is undefined then show the green up aircraft icon
if uptime is defined and downtime is undefined then show the red down aircraft icon
if both are defined then make the button invisible (that's the easy bit)

The current system has been working well for three years, its just one potential new customer who's being a bit picky (but to be honest it would be a nice touch)

Not sure if this will work but try it.

Specifying an icon on an operation only works using
an icon image or a class. Icon font does not work.

Using icon class.....

The default for edit is for example aw-icon-edit.

So create two icon classes in aware-ext.css called

.rocket-launch-yes and .rocket-launch-No

In the icon class of the attribute you enter

rocket-launch-<<BO.RocketLaunched>>

You might need to enter as...

rocket-launch-{RocketLaunched}

I am not near computer so can't test. May not work

I can save you some time. The solution doesn´t work or I couldn´t get it working at least. Real nice solution otherwise Mark 🙂. I actually need this exact thing (and also the option of having multiple operations (with on the fly icons) on the same row) and I am working on another solution. I got the solution fully working BUT there is a bug messing it up so right now it doesn´t work. I have reported the bug to support and hope we can get a quick fix for this. I will post the solution in the tips section when the bug is fixed.

Yes Henrik. You are correct. Have just got up and tested it and it does not work.

I will say through that the method of using an attribute to dynamically change css styling does work for Custom Forms.

Anyway, look forward to seeing your workaround.

Hi guys,
Here is the guide for the custom solution I wrote about before. The bug (which turns out wasn´t a bug) had to do with using {ID} together with startProcess2 in standard queries (using {ID} together with startProcess2 works in custom queries but not the default ones). I have instead created a workaround for this which you will see in the posted tip/solution.

Mark. I have thought about using/incorporating your solution using special CSS class names (edit-yes) and then use that in rules (edit-<<Bo.Attribute>>) and that will probably work making it possible to optimize this solution (this can coincidently also be used for processes (process-yes = process-<<Bo.Attribute>>). I haven´t done this here but think you can do some cool additional stuff + optimization that way. If you or anyone else does this, please share a comment in the tips post.
